The highlights of the trip were = Northern Gannet and Royal Tern. We had Gannet at Morgantown (2) (M), = and Cobb Island (2) (C). There could have been more but the wind was = blowing in our faces, it was cold, but the birds are moving. If you = want to see these birds close to DC, come on down. They don't seem to = like to go beyond the Harry Nice bridge. The bridge crosses into = Virginia near Clifton, Maryland. Anywhere along the lower Potomac on = Cobb neck might be good tomorrow. The Royal Terns were in Morgantown. =20 Along the way we also had a fair assortment of waterfowl and other birds = of note. 10 Common Loon (C) 4 Horned Grebe (C) 60 Double-crested Cormorants (M) 2 Wood Duck - Breeze Point Sewage Treatment Plant 6 American Duck Allen's Fresh 40+ Bufflehead (C) 300 Ruddy Duck (M) 60 or so Lesser Scaup 1 first year female Greater Scaup with a nice white ear patch at least 10 Osprey - Cobb Neck (along the way) and Allen's Fresh 5 Bald Eagles.
