On my way over to meet him, I had about 30-40 Gannets feeding on the south side of the Bay Bridge. However, only 2 were in QA (enough for a county bird though). At Tuckahoe, Rusty Blackbird was present as I pulled up. We then took off around Caroline County trying to find a Yellow-throated Warbler. We birded Tuckahoe, Adkins Arboretum, Martinac State Park, and Idlewylde WMA with no luck. However, we did get some Louisiana Waterthrushes and Red-breasted Nuthatches at Idlewylde, Yellow Palm Warblers at Adkins and Martinac, and Gnatcatchers at most spots. Federalsburg Wetlands held some Snipe and Greater Yellowlegs. Eastern Dorchester had a Vesper Sparrow flying up off the road and northwestern Wicomico was Vesperless. Though the winds would have kept any singing birds down. Greater Yellowlegs and Forster's Terns were seen from the end of Old Rt. 50 in Wicomico. Elliot Island was rather dead with only! 5 Blue-winged Teal and a batch of Lesser Yellowlegs as the highlights. A fair number of Harriers were also present. The pig farm on Indian Town Rd. north of Vienna had a gorgeous adult Lesser Black-backed Gull in with the Ringers and Laughers. A total of 60 Bonaparte's Gull were seen from the end of Hog Island Rd. and Tanyard marsh combined. Also present were 7 Forester's Terns and 11 Caspians. The shorebird flock here had 31 Snipe, 32 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, 1 Dunlin, and 1 Pectoral Sandpiper. A small gull roost formed on the Caroline side of Kingston Landing and held a 1st-year Lesser Black-backed at dusk. Also in various places we had Purple Martins, and Tree, Barn, Rough-winged Swallows.
