It is approximately 250' away as my surveyor friend has indicated. Recently, I watched one individual walk under the nest. I recommended he not do so. The eagle on the nest immediately looked over the nest at him, and then moved to the top of the nest from inside the nest. The eagle then flew to a perch perhaps 100 yards away. All of this took perhaps several minutes. To me, this was a clear indication that although the eagles are accustomed to bird watchers from the road (for over a dozen years), close visitors are not a good idea. I asked his friend to retrieve him, which he did by driving up and asking him. The eagle returned to the nest after a while. I suspect the eaglets, which I have not seen, may be a coupla weeks old. The danger may be that the eagles could abandon the nest and ruin all our fun, and of course theirs! So if you see people behaving this way, I recommend you counsel them. Thank you.
