While driving along Offutt Rd I flushed a small group of sparrows that included a Vesper Sparrow, a first for the year for me. Further along on Edwards Ferry Rd was an adult Red-headed Woodpecker, on a tree next to a farm entrance. This is the third time I have seen these birds in this general area; maybe they will stay and nest in the area. Further along, and back on River Rd, I came across my first White-eyed Vireo and Common Yellowthroat of the season. There was also half a dozen White-crowned Sparrows on a track leading off River Rd. A short walk at White's Ferry yielded Barred Owl, N. Parula, Yellow-throated Warbler, 4-5 House Wrens, one singing male Purple Finch and plenty of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers.
