Date: Sun, 14 Apr 2002 08:24:03 -0700 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Steve Noyes Subject: BUFF at NWVC MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Following my Basics of Birding class yesterday afternoon (4/13) at the National Wildlife Visitor Center in Laurel, MD we stepped out on the patio to look for birds on the lake and, as if on cue, in flew a pair of BUFFLEHEADS. A pair of Am. black ducks also cruised along the lake. A male bluebird dazzled us with his bright colors. A mockingbird busily defended its territory at the bayscape garden. The new birders were very excited at seeing even our common birds. I told them, "If you think this is exciting, wait a couple of weeks when the peak migration kicks in !!!" My next class is Saturday, May 11 and it should be exciting.
