Northern Parulas were easy to find this weekend, with sightings yesterday at the National Arboretum and today at Fletcher's Boathouse in DC and at Lock 6 along the C&O Canal in Montgomery County. Other warblers seen Saturday include Pine Warbler at National Arboretum and Palm Warblers at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, National Arboretum, and Chain Bridge. Chipping Sparrows were seen and heard at National Arboretum yesterday and at Fletcher's Boathouse today, all looking good in their breeding plumage. Blue-gray Gnatcatchers were seen yesterday at National Arboretum and today at Roosevelt Island and Chain Bridge. Many Bonaparte's Gulls were at Lock 6 in Montgomery County yesterday and today. Hermit Thrushes were singing beautifully at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens yesterday morning. Caspian Terns were everywhere along the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers in DC. For the atlas, I found an Eastern Phoebe building a nest. A female Belted Kingfisher finally went in a nest I had been watching on and off for a week.
