The nest is located in a grove of Loblolly Pines on the right side of the road almost to the end of Tilghman. I did not have my scope or camera and binoculars were fine. I did not get out of the car because the male was distressed when I stopped and noisily flew to another tree. The female was in the nest poking around and finally settled down and I surmise she has eggs or babies. Many Osprey nests can be seen on the way to Tilghman especially crossing the bridges. Large flocks of Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds also were visible and it was pleasant to see so many bright yellow American Goldfinch. Backyard: This week...Purple Finch, Chipping Sparrows, WE Vireo and previously the usual sightings of Downies, Hairies, RB Woodpeckers, Song Sparrows, YS Flicker and many other common backyard birds. In addition, the Bluebird pair sat like two staunch soldiers on top of their chosen nestbox for at least a half hour. Be aware...several people have had sightings of Copperhead Snakes in this area.
