She was delighted last year to have a Robin nest in the eaves of her porch. She kept the nest so the Robin would come back this year. A few weeks ago, she noticed a small white egg in the nest. Never saw a bird. Recently, she noticed that something has built a mud and feather nest on top of the old Robin's nest and seemingly, covered the small white egg. She has not seen any birds there this year. I know leaving the Robin's nest out was probably not the right thing to do. But, I did not know birds nested on top of each others nests (except where parasitised by a Cowbird?). Is this what happened? If not, where'd the small white egg come from? By small and white, she told me it was definitely smaller than a Robin's egg and definitely not blue, but a whitish to light gray looking egg.
