To round out a World Series of Birding team, Saturday May 11, 2002. Compete with the nation's top birders for fun, prizes, and raise funds for bird conservation in Mexico and US. We can't top the 5 million raptors counted in Veracruz, Mexico in fall 2001, but we can still compete!!! Level I (Competitive) team, "Holy Order of Loggerhead Shrikes/Pronatura Veracruz". Sponsored this year by Pronatura Veracruz, and the Montgomery County Chapter, Maryland Ornithological Society. 24-hour species count of 148 and 150 species placed us in the top third of all Level I teams in World Series of Birding 2000 and 2001. Raise money for bird conservation in Mexico and U.S. Two returning veterans (Andy Rabin and Don Simonson): we need one or two additional birders (WSB veterans or newcomers) for this 24-hour birdathon in Cape May, NJ. Deadline for applications is April 28, 2002. Good sense of humor and good birding skills are the only requirements.
