The walk is beside a small stream in a small ravine. As I walked along I could hear duelling WOOD THRUSHES accented by PARULA zips and Goldfinch gracenotes. An OVENBIRD provided a nice rich background. What a symphony.... Had a nice warbler list: YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER PINE WARBLER OVENBIRD N. PARULA HOODED WARBLER WORM-EATING WARBLR PRAIRIE WARBLER COMMON YELLOWTHROAT LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH After the path leaves the stream, where a Possum ambled by (!), it climbs up the ravine to the edge of a powerline right-of-way, where the Prairie Warblers were singing and the Field Sparrows too. The Yellowthroats and White-eyed Vireos scolded me. My first-of-the-year Fowler's Toad hopped across the path as I headed home. There seemed to be more singing RED-EYED VIREOS on the return trip. A second stop at the beach added Great Blue Heron, Mute Swan, Mallard and Ring-billed Gull to the day's list, but NOT Bufflehead......are they gone already?
