Co. birds, 4/27 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Folks, Joan DeCarli and I met Brian Sykes this morning at the big Halethorpe Farms pond in southern Baltimore Co., and enjoyed our finds. This is in the Relay Northeast Atlas Block, being covered by Paula Warner of the Balt. Bird Club. When we first arrived, there were seven DOULBE-CRESTED CORMORANTs, four GREAT EGRETs, a SNOWY EGRET, and an adult LITTLE BLUE HERON at the pond, accented by a flyover COMMON LOON. Songbirds included EASTERN KINGBIRD, WARBLING VIREO (3), and six species of warbler (PARULA, YELLOW, YELLOW-RUMPED, B&W, PALM, and C. YELLOWTHROAT). Back on the Patapsco River, just south of the pond, were two SOLITARY SANDPIPERs and two SPOTTED SANDPIPERs. Brian showed us a hummingbird nest used last season. Earlier in the morning, at the Glenartney section of Patapsco Valley State Park, in Balt. Co., was a female plumaged HOODED MERGANSER, and singing YELLOW-THROATED VIREO and LA. WATERTHRUSH. On the other side of the river, in Howard Co. was a singing WOOD THRUSH.
