As far as I know, but I could be wrong, females do not sing. Brown birds singing would be subadult males. You might want to look at the Birds of No Am species account for further information. These accounts are full of information for each species. The Patuxent Library and I believe, the Pratt Library have this series. There is also a copy at Cylburn belonging to MOS. When do male purple finches get their adult plumage? Where can I find information about which species' females sing? Are there any species (globally) that only the females sing? thanks, Jordan Cloverly, MD Montgomery County ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
