Probably more would have been seen from right along the river. Also obviously migrating were many Blue Jays. Later, in our Atlas block in the southern end of PG, were our first Wood Thrush, early Summer Tanager, and a very early Tree Swallow nest with 5 lovely eggs. Eastern Kingbirds are of course flycatchers, usually seen on wires from which they sally out to catch insects and pugnaciously keeping their distance from one another. But another less-known behavior is sometimes seen soon after arrival on breeding grounds - large flocks feeding on freshly-tilled ground. Such was the case with some 50 Kingbirds off Croom Rd near "Westwood" the same day.
