I got lucky at = the main observation pool catching several birds just before they left = with the clear out of the cold front.=20 Present were: 9 Great Blue Herons 1 Black-bellied Plover 8 Semipalmated Plovers 18 Greater Yellowlegs (2 more later on the tour) 12 Lesser Yellowlegs 1 Willet (eastern subspecies) 31 Least Sandpipers (7 more on the tour) 2 Pectoral Sandpipers 5 Laughing Gulls 1 Caspian Tern Other species I found included 2 Blue-headed Vireos, 5 swallow species = (no Cliffs), and a gorgeous singing male Orchard Oriole at St. Paul's = Church on Ricaud's Branch Rd (not "Bridge" contra my last post). Other sightings around the county: Blue-winged Teal at a farm pond off = Langford Rd, and a Northern Harrier on Fish Hatchery Rd. We still have = at least 4 Purple Finches eating elm keys and visiting the tube feeder = in our yard.
