It has been there all day, walking around the house, sunning on the deck, not terribly concerned when the humans walked up to the glass doors, etc. It appears to be an older female (no wattle, head dull, small beard) without any obvious ecternal pathology. So my question is: what on earth is it doing spending the afternoon in a manicured back yard. We have turkeys nearby in the less suburban/populated areas, but they are skittish. This one seemed unconcerned about people. Where we are is a small development in the middle of rural Kent county along Swantown creek, so our yard birds tend to be Osprey, Eagles, and Great Blue Herons rather than turkeys. Anyone have any thoughts/experience with turkeys acting strangely in odd habitats?
