Highlights follow: At Belmont Conference Center (Howard County) there were numerous WOOD THRUSH and OVENBIRD singing. I also heard a HOODED WARBLER. A pair of BALTIMORE ORIOLES was by the mansion house and a male ORCHARD ORIOLE was singing in a tree just above the pond. As usual, CHIPPING SPARROWS were much in evidence. Also in the trees above the pond were a BROWN THRASHER, 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, lots of RED-WINGED BLACKBIRDS and (quite early date) 4 male BOBOLINKS. At Patapsco Valley State Park (Baltimore County side, near the visitor center), there was a singing BLUE-WINGED WARBLER in a holly tree otherwise full of berry-eating CEDAR WAXWINGS. In the same park, Howard County side, there was a singing LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH along the creek running into the Patapsco. At the North Tract of the Patuxent Research Refuge (Anne Arundel County), I had: 1 SOLITARY SANDPIPER 3 INDIGO BUNTING 1 ORCHARD ORIOLE 6 NORTHERN PARULA 1 BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER 2 PRAIRIE WARBLER 1 BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER 7 AMERICAN REDSTART 1 COMMON YELLOWTHROAT 2 HOODED WARBLER and at least 20 OVENBIRD, singing all over I also heard, but did not see, a SCARLET TANAGER.
