For all but one of us it was heard only, but leader Debbie Terry, who had to leave early, passed a message to us via a runner that she saw it on the way out. With 3 warblers added by Paul Noell on a solo side-trip, we had 13 warbler species: Blue-winged Warbler, Golden-winged Warbler, Parula Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Pine Warbler (Paul), Prairie Warbler (Paul), Palm Warbler, Black & White Warbler, American Redstart, Ovenbird (Paul), and Common Yellowthroat. They were not numerous, but pleasantly diverse. We saw several brilliant, singing Baltimore Orioles. Paul also saw an Orchard Oriole on his own, as well as a fleeting Rose-breasted Grosbeak. One Scarlet Tanager was heard only. We had 5 species of shorebird, Blue-winged Teal, and Gadwall (Paul only). Paul also spotted our first Black-crowned Night-Heron of the season and generously shared it with all before going off on his solo excursion. Surprisingly, no Wood Thrush. 73 species total.
