However, the star of the day was a non-warbler. All members of the group got scope views of a LEAST FLYCATCHER, as it sang its Che-BEK, Che-BEK, Che-BEK. In the flycatcher department, we also heard three ACADIAN FLYCATCHERs and three GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHERs. We tallied a total of 14 species of warbler including BLUE-WINGED, NASHVILLE, PARULA, CHESTNUT-SIDED, BLACK-THROATED BLUE, YELLOW-RUMPED, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, BLACK-AND-WHITE, REDSTART, OVENBIRD, LA. WATERTHRUSH, KENTUCKY, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, and HOODED. Sadly, of all of these species, only five were actually seen, but scope views of a singing male SCARLET TANAGER and a non-singing VEERY helped satisfy our group with several novice birders. This is a pretty nice place to bird during the first weekend of May.
