Stan led a great trip through some of the Middle Patuxent Environmental area on April 27th, and that made me aware of some wonderful swampy habitat in my own atlas block. I have returned several times this week (sometimes with Tom Feild, and sometimes with my son Sam). Tom spotted a NORTHERN PARULA reusing dried pine needles from an old squirrel nest as material for its own nest. My son and I discovered a RUFOUS-SIDED HUMMINGBIRD building a beautiful lichen nest over a tributary of the Middle Patuxent River.
