It turned out to be the best location after all was said and done. The highlights were an Acadian Flycatcher, an Eastern Kingbird, 2 Blue-headed (solitarius) and 2 Red-eyed Vireos, only 1 Ruby-crowned Kinglet (are they finally leaving?), a Swainson's and a Wood Thrush and the following warblers: Nashville, 2 Parula, Yellow, 3 Chestnut-sided, Cape May, 2 Black-throated Blue, 10 Yellow-rumped, a male and a female Black-throated Green, 2 Bay-breasted, Blackpoll, Redstart and Ovenbird. The other birds included Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and a pair of Baltimore Orioles. Elsewhere in the park were a Common Yellowthroat and an Indigo Bunting. This brings the yard list up to 19 warblers for the year. Last night at about 11:15 I stepped outside for 3 or 4 minutes and heard 9 Veerys, a Wood Thrush and a possible Bicknell's flying overhead under the low overcast with southerly winds, ideal conditions for night migrant listening.
