This is decidedly not a 'human-powered' list, but, what the hey! I'll take what I can get under those circumstances. Thanks to the slowly moving, frequently stopped-up traffic, I heard at least two Prothonotary Warblers singing lustily on the C & O Canal, opposite of Clark Place, maybe 30 yards or so to the west. Shortly after, a Belted Kingfisher auditioned for attention, with its own rendition of mechanical gears clashing, out of sight and just below the canal's retaining wall. Further down, on the left, came a Common Yellow-throat's song from its typical brushy lair. Finally, off to the right again, a Yellow Warbler gave a cheery rendition of its song. No raptors, no thrushes, quite a few cardinals & chickadees. But I did finally catch up with that rowing crew on the river after I hit the Whitehurst Freeway (did I mention the Rock Doves?).
