A short walk before work at the Pine Barrens in Robert E. Lee Park yielded a short list - with Prairie (perhaps my best look ever) Magnolia, Pine, Yellow-rumped, Black-throated green, and Ovenbird the only warblers. Swainson's Thrushes were singing. I did see interesting flight displays of at least three Red-shouldered Hawks. (It was hard to count them because they were flying just above the tree line and flew in and out of sight.) Twice two birds flew together with their talons pointed in each other's direction, and I was guessing that this was a courtship display. The best bird of the day came after I left the park as I was driving to work. At the corner of W. University Parkway and Cold Spring Lane, a single Red-Headed Woodpecker flew West.
