As we walked down the short boardwalk, admiring these interesting insectivorous plants, my attention switched to a vaguely familiar bird song. An Olive-sided Flycatcher was sitting in one of the trees just over the bog singing it's "Quick THREE BEERS" song as well as the triplet sometimes described as "pit-pit-pit." This continued until the sky became increasingly dark -- it headed for cover as the thunder boomed and so did we. Directions to Suitland Bog: Take the Capitol Beltway to Exit 9, Allentown Road. From Allentown Road just between the entrances to 495, turn north onto Suitland Road. The entrance to the park is just past the Suitland Parkway overpass.
