We are in the middle of glorious Spring migration and this trip should be special. Meeting Place: Elk Neck State Park, Turkey Point parking lot. Time: 7:00 am (half day). Suggested equipment: bug spray (for ticks). Conveniences: trees. Admission: None. Questions: call Marcia Watson-Whitmyre at 410-392-9236 or email mww@udel.edu Turkey Point Directions: Traveling north on I95, take the North East exit (Exit 100) and turn South on Rt. 272. Take Rt. 272 south through the town of Northeast. Continue south past the Elk Neck State Park Headquarters, swimming area entrance, camping area entrance, and boating area entrance. Next you will pass through Chesapeake Isles and come to a dirt parking lot (It is about 15 miles from I95 to the Turkey Point parking lot). This is our meeting place for birdwalks. To get to the Hawk Watch you park and walk around the gate and follow the trail through one field and in the center of the next field is our sign and picnic tables. This is our Hawk Watch (3/4 mile walk - one way). If you continue on the trail, the lighthouse is a few minutes further. Traveling north on Rt. 213, turn West on Rt. 40 to the intersection of Rt. 40 and Rt. 272 (5 miles). At Rt. 40 and Rt. 272, take Rt. 272 south through the town of Northeast. Continue south past the Elk Neck State Park Headquarters, swimming area entrance, camping area entrance, and boating area entrance.
