I thought I had posted this, but apparently not. On Sunday 5/5/02 several of us did the Driving Tour in "Jug Bay" and Merkle WMA. We encountered a number of Yellow-throated Warblers in the usual places. We had a great look at one in a pine tree near the NE corner of the old airport with another one singing nearby I think. (They almost always seem to be there.) We heard one in the woods just south of the wooden bridge, and we heard another, as usual in the past, by the short boardwalk before the road turns back towards the visitor center. I notice the ones that probably nest closer to me in Baltimore (e.g. Marriottsville Rd and Henryton Rd.) seem to have become silent (or absent?) about 2 weeks ago. An unpleasant surprise for us was the near-absence of Hooded Warblers in the boardwalk area of Pax River Park ("Walnut Creek"?), where they used to be abundant.
