Our best warbler was a singing CERULEAN just above Riley's Lock. I have not found it in this location before, but another birder who birds there regularly says the species is regularly heard, if not seen, there. We had a seven flycatcher day with the best of bunch 2 LEAST FLYCATCHERS along the towpath above Riley's and a single OLIVE-SIDED at Hughes Hollow. Upon my return to Seneca from Hughes Hollow, to drop off a participant at his car, we found a single female RED-BREASTED MERGANSER in Seneca Creek, just north of the bridge that carries the canal over the creek. The merg. was not there earlier in the day. Mike Bowen Bethesda MD D.H.
