Not the whole 10 square miles; just the little square we actually live in. Our exercise routine was disrupted as we tracked down the sound of begging Cardinals, and a hungry Mockingbird fledgling, to check off two more Atlas species. I was most impressed, though, with the heroic aggression of one adult Mockingbird, that actually turned around a neighborhood cat and drove it behind a house by repeatedly diving and striking at its rump. Who says you can't herd cats! We also stopped to view two Nighthawks overhead, drawn by the sound of "peant"ing; and listened to the first spiraling Veery song we've heard this year, although we've seen plenty of 'em in Leakin Park the last two weeks.
