The highlight: an Orange-crowned Warbler foraging low (10-15 feet) in a willow between the pond and towpath. Had some trouble with this bird. Noted: olive green upperparts, with no wingbars; greenish yellow below, including undertail coverts; faint dark streaking on breast (which ruled out female Wilson's, which another birder suggested it might be - also didn't have the yellow forehead even female Wilson's has); black legs; thin, pointed bill; generally nondescript; size about the same as a nearby Northern Parula. No vocalizations. I like what the Patuxent bird ID web page has to say about this species: "The Orange-crowned Warbler is extremely nondescript. In fact, this is one of the best field marks for identifying it!" Other warblers seen and/or heard: Magnolia, Blackburnian, Yellow-throated, Prairie (out at River Road), Blackpoll, Prothonotary, both waterthrushes, Canada. Where are the Barred Owls this year?
