Date: Sun, 19 May 2002 16:10:49 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Denise Ryan Subject: Veery-fest Rock Creek Saturday evening Just wanted to report that at 7:00 p.m. I had at least 4 Veery all singing in their separate corners noted from the intersection of Glover and Ross Drive in Rock Creek Park. They were joined in the chorus by several Wood Thrush. I noted at least one Veery and numerous Ovenbirds on the horse- trail behind the Ridge. Later around 8:30 p.m. heard my first Common Nighthawk with all of the vocalizations including "auk" call and diving boom from the Rock Creek Maint. yard. I never saw them back there but later saw an individual over the Ridge area. Has anyone heard Swainson's Thrush in the park this year?
