So, despite the price markup, I would recommend going to a bird store to test out several different pairs of binoculars and talk to the staff about your specific needs. (I'm not familiar with stores in Annapolis, but two common chain stores are Wild Bird Center and Wild Birds Unlimited. Looking in the yellow pages under "birds" probably would turn up more.) Then once you've got a general idea what type of binoculars you like best, you can shop around for best price if you want to (try going online to Eagle Optics), or you can buy the binoculars at the bird store for convenience and on the theory that if there is a problem, it's easy to return the binoculars for exchange or refund. ================================= June Tveekrem Columbia, Howard County, MD tweekiebird@toadmail.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Frank Boyle" To: Sent: May 27, 2002 7:38 AM Subject: Re: [MDOSPREY] Binoculars > Jason, > > I would go to Penn Camera or a similar store; all of the bird stores > mark up their binocs to an obscene 100-200% of what you would pay there > or through mail order. > > > ********************* > Frank Boyle > ravenfrank@earthlink.net > Burlington, VT (for now!!) > ********************* > > -----Original Message----- > From: Maryland Birds & Birding [mailto:MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM] On > Behalf Of Jason Duncan > Sent: Sunday, May 26, 2002 7:56 PM > To: MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM > Subject: [MDOSPREY] Binoculars > > > Hello Group, > I was wondering if anyone could recommend a store to check out birding > optics.
