He was identifying it by posture rather than bill color. This morning John Hubbell saw the swan after walking up the Potomac some distance from around Roosevelt Island. He identified it as a Tundra Swan. This morning on Roosevelt Island Lisa Shannon and I witnessed nest building by Baltimore Oriole and Yellow Warbler. One of the male Baltimores had a unique melody that we were humming for the next half hour. We also glimpsed two Catharus thrushes that appeared to be Gray-cheeked Thrushes, and had a really nice (though short) view of a close male Canada Warbler. When we arrived home we heard a Black-billed Cuckoo calling.
