(You will see a road called Monticello first, but you can't get there from there). Beverley sign is somewhat obscured by trees. Turn left and you will see the park at the end of the block. About 1:30 PM Saturday the 25th, carefully placing sticks into the large nest atop a telephone/powerline pole. Nothing but cars, parking lots and malls as far as the eye could see. What was this bird doing? Has it mated and is ready to lay eggs? Is there more than one? 2) I missed the Mississippi Kite at Huntley Meadows the same day. Has anyone seen it or them lately? Do they nest there? 3) I got a report from a friendly birder about a Mourning Warbler in Monticello Park. "Monticello"? I asked. She said "Monticello Park, it's very small, postage stamp size." I ignored her directions as she wasn't sure about one road, and looked it up in my ADC Nothern Virginia map. Sure enough, there's a very small park off Braddock. I spent 2 hours trying to get to it and find the pond she mentioned. Couldn't find it. I finally figured that she was speaking of the "Community" of Monticello Park, off Telegraph Road. Oh, well. Did anyone see it yesterday? ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= Yahoo! - Official partner of 2002 FIFA World Cup =========================================================================
