Fairly typical count of 46 species, including a migrant Blackpoll Warbler. Birds of note were 2 Yellow-crowned Night Herons flying over, a Willow Flycatcher calling in the overgrown field NE of Sycamore Landing Rd(on the return trip I heard another?one at the intersection of River & Sycamore Landing Rds.), and 3 singing Grasshopper Sparrows in the fields north of River Rd between Hughes & Willard Rds. I was pleased to have a count of 12 Prairie Warblers, which was in the range of the previous 4 years' counts. Earlier this month I was concerned that I wasn't hearing many as I was driving to Hughes Hollow. I had at least 87 Cedar Waxwings, but found no evidence of nesting activity. Besides singing males they only sign of breeding I recorded was courtship flight of Chimney Swifts and a fledgling Cardinal.
