Wed, 5/29 7:30 am: A Fish Crow, while making a breakfast of the Eastern Kingbird's eggs, also manages to pull the nest apart. Both the Eastern & Western Kingbirds "go crazy" trying to drive him away. The male EAKI is no longer in evidence. The FICR comes back at least two more times during the morning but the newly bonded couple viciously attack and drive him off. That afternoon the female EAKI picks up pieces of what's left of the old nest & begins building another nest high in the same sycamore. This time the nest is concealed. The WEKI follows her every move down & up, down & up... Nothing new today. If you visit, bring insect repellent 'cause deer flies are beginning to be a nuisance.
