Forebay Pond is a small pond just east of the lake. You can get there by parking at the Lake Elkhorn lot and walking the length of the lake, but you can get much closer to the pond with much less walking by going through the side streets. Here are two ways to get there: 1) From Rt. 175, take Snowden River Parkway south. Turn right on Oakland Mills Road. Turn left on Homespun Lane. Turn left on Angelina Circle. Near the end of Angelina is a cul-de-sac called Sylvan Dell. Park there and walk down the pathway that leads from the street. When you get to the main path, turn right to go toward the lake. When you come to the bridge, turn left and go across it, then bear left up the hill away from the lake. Watch for a dirt path on the left -- this leads to Forebay Pond. 2) Take Rt. 175 to Snowden River Parkway south. Continue past Oakland Mills Rd. and turn right onto Rustling Leaf. Follow Rustling Leaf to the end. Go past the tot lot and follow the path, then turn left onto the main path. The dirt path to Forebay Pond will be on your right. When we saw the Little Blue it was on the ground on the far side of the pond under a dead tree.
