The adult White-faced Ibis originally reported on 19 May from the Wildlife Loop at Chincoteague NWR (presumably the same bird) was seen Saturday 1 June by Mike Iwanik, and on Sunday 2 June by Sue Heath and myself. Both days it was seen in the portion of Swan Cove that can be seen from the Wildlife Loop. Today it was a mere ten yards from the poison-ivy covered bank along the road. It is not a particularly shy bird. Most of the shorebirds at Chincoteague were in the center area of the Wildlife Loop, making viewing difficult. There were thousands of birds out there. Shapes were about all that could be easily discerned. Some shorebirds were in the area of Swan Cove near the Tom's Cove Visitor Center. A few white-rumped could be picked out of the semipalmated sandpipers. Three mostly breeding plumaged Red Knots were around. About sixty dowitchers, with very few in breeding plumage were feeding. I didn't see a single Dunlin today. Cheers... Todd - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Todd M.
