Cheers, Kathy Laurel MD John Staples cc: Sent by: Maryland Subject: [MDOSPREY] Bluebird eggs removed Birds & Birding from nest 06/11/02 08:29 AM Please respond to Maryland Birds & Birding We had five Bluebird eggs, ready to hatch, removed from the nest between 4:30pm and 7pm. We have the upside down metal cylinder under the nest and it has a thin coat of oil on it. There was no evidence of climbing or attempted climbing, and no sign of any damage or upheaval to the nest box or the contents other than the careful removal of the eggs. We have had Bluebird nests for many years and have never had a removal like this. We have a minicam mounted over the nest box which allows us to observe inside the nest, but, of course, I did not have it recording when the eggs were removed. Any ideas on who it was and how to protect against this intruder?
