It was a bit tricky attempting to gather valuable Atlas data because of the confusing welter of field trips and departure times. The smoothness of the trip schedule is a testament to good organization and planning. Unfortunately I neglected to establish a central point for the dropoff of field trip Atlas reports. I thank the folks who caught up to me or Fran Pope with their data, and I appeal to those with the information fresh in their minds to send me a copy of their notes some time this week so they can be incorporated into the Atlas. We had a number of important records, Chan had the first Hermit Thrush nests found in MD since the 1920s, the Mosser Rd Sedge Wren was seen carrying nesting material (just a probable because male wrens build nests in the absence of a mate sometimes), and a Swainson's Thrush could be the first on breeding territory in a very long time if it can be found again during safe dates. It's important to get these data before they are forgotten or can't be put on a map. Please send me a copy of your findings by locality (nearest road intersection and distance, stream crossing, etc.), and notes on breeding behavior if you saw some. We need the location because the Atlas is a mapping project, try to be as precise as you can because of the quarterblock mapping pattern throughout Garrett County. People will be making follow-up trips to Garrett County in upcoming weeks so even singing Blackburnians, etc. not yet in their safe dates could be upgraded if we have locations for them. Thanks for your help, it was a wonderful weekend.
