I certainly have to agree with Mr. Sussman,

In addition to my House Finch at a the Hummingbird feeder problem,
there also seems to be a lack of Hummers in my yard. I don't know if the
lack of Hummers is due to the House Finches or the lack of Hummers has
given the House Finches more visibility/opportunity?

Parke.

Les, et al,
I would add that over the 15 or so years I have been feeding hummers here
 in
our yard in Ashton, I have tried almost all of the feeders available, and
have settled on 2 Perky Pet four-fountains feeders, mounted on (their) wind
brackets on the fence. For my situation, they seem to attract the most
activity, leak least and/or break less frequently than any other type I've
tried (including Aspects, Droll Yankee saucer type, the little egg shaped
one
which leaked, etc., etc.)
I will say also that the four-fountains feeders do get their share of
black
ants and yellowjackets, but kept clean with a hot rinsing and brush 3 times
a
week or more, they do get the hummers in my yard. And as a bonus, mounted
on
the top of the fence, my neighbors can enjoy them too, without all the
work!
I have never had any problems with birds eating from them, though it would
certainly be easy enough for them to do so.

My problem this year is the lack of hummers in my area. I think I've seen
more in the field than in the yard this season!
