This is usually one of the least interesting routes because it's just through the central fields, but I saw the most interesting bird of the season- a male BOBOLINK calling and flying overhead to the west. I never saw it land so I'm not sure what it was up to. Another surprise was a singing WILLOW FLYCATCHER in the illows( where else?)by the bulletin board in the impoundment area. I have been here several times in the past two weeks without hearing it. The only other one I have found is at the intersection of River and Sycamore Landing Rds, bit is a very reluctant singer. The other bird of general interest was the adult YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON in the swampy area along Hunting Quarter Rd east of the central parking lot. This has become a reliable spot to find them and it is easy to see from the road.
