(I don't have to be at work until 9:45 so I can spend the early hours wandering back roads, etc.) It occurs to me that we are all probably making up new words: To Atlas (verb) most often heard as "Atlasing" (or Atlassing?) Atlasable (adj.) example: Goldfinches aren't atlasable until tomorrow. Any more? Yesterday (6/13) I was atlassing in Lusby when I saw what I thought was an unusual bird fly out over a pond, chased by a Redwing. Binoculars identified it as a Luna Moth -- poor thing flopped across the surface of the water, chased next by a Kingbird, which I suspect got the titbit. Sue Hamilton, Calvert County My best Atlas (adj) bird so far is a Cooper's HAwk which I saw being chased by grackles in "Cove Point SW" (Soller's Wharf/Hellen Creek area). Actually I have a Cooper's HAwk in my Washington County Block (Clear Spring Central). LAst sighted being chased by a Redwing. Similar habitat ("broken woodlands" near farmland), but, of course, more expected. _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
