And the previous Sunday, at the Soldier's Delight trip led by Keith Costley. I was really struck by how much work these leaders put into their field trips. For instance, to prepare for the Carrol Co. field trip, Pete and Steve Sanford went scouting for birds the weekend before, and as a result, they were able to get us some really wonderful birds (incl. 3 lifers for me). Keith Costley knows Soldier's Delight so well that he could have probably led that trip blindfolded. He went out of his way to find the birds (without disturbing them) and did his best to make sure everyone in the group saw and/or heard them. People like Pete, Steve and Keith, other outstanding trip leaders I have met in the past, and I'm sure there are others that I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting, are treasures. They are incredibly generous with their time, wonderful teachers, and they take great effort, and responsibility, in leading field trips. The birding community is very fortunate to have them in our midst. We owe them a very big THANK YOU!!! cheers, shireen -- Shireen Gonzaga Baltimore whimbrel@comcast.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
