I don't know the atlas block. Can you process this sighting for me? Thanks. I saw Red-headed Woodpeckers in 7 locations in the northern parts of the county. They seem to be more common than ever this year. Cedar Waxwings also seem to be more numerous than in past years. I also checked the Dickcissel site found by Pete Webb and Steve Sanford. The side of the road was being mowed but the field was untouched. I saw two birds, one of which was singing. They were not close to the road and a 'scope was needed to identify them visually. My best sighting of the weekend was a Cooper's Hawk on Sunday (my fourth of the weekend). I first saw it soaring and gliding slowly before it suddenly went into a vertical dive. It dropped below some intervening high ground but quickly reappeared flat out in hot pursuit of a bird. I had no sooner been able to identify the prey as a Mourning Dove when the chase ended in a shower of feathers. Good for the hawk. Good for me since Cooper's is difficult to confirm. Not so good for the dove, but there were numerous juveniles around the farm that day. The bird that was taken may have been an uneducated one of those.
