I leaned over the locked gate today, listening to a Prairie Warbler, and watching a Blue Grosbeak.... Q. 2: Perhaps I have missed this information -- it puzzles me not to find BAld Eagle anywhere on my Field CArd. (This species was apparently listed as an "Eastern Shore Specialty" last time.) I have it listed now under "Additional Species" for "Prince Frederick Central" (1694) [which also currently includes Forster's Tern O Royal Tern O Brown Pelican O] But:Bald Eagle is a species I expect to Confirm -- and this is on the WESTERN Shore. It is amazing how much territory there is in one 'little' block. I keep poking about, today from the beach, so I am currently wet and red-nosed. One of the Property Owners in this block is a well-known Writer of Military Suspense Novels, who is known to dislike environmentalists, so I do not plan to visit that area... Today's best addition was a small flock of N. Rough-winged swallows, whose nest holes in the cliff I think I found, but I can only give them an "N"....so far. Walking the beach is great fun, but you really realize how much you depend on sound while atlassing, when bird sound is drowned out by the noise of waves lapping on the shore. So far, 69 species. Biggest miss: REDWING. Next biggest: Field Sparrow (now if I can get in to the power line right-of-way I'm sure I can take care of that).
