USING E-MAIL COMMANDS There are two approaches to turning your mail on or off. The first, a rather blunt instrument approach, is simply to signoff the list and then resubscribe when you want to start mail again. To do this, send a message to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following command as the first line in the body of the message: SIGNOFF MDOSPREY. The risk with this approach is that as MDOsprey gets closer and closer to the limit of 400 subscribers, you run the very real risk of finding yourself unable to resubscribe upon your return. The second, preferred, approach to controlling mail while you are away on vacation is to use the SET command. To temporarily turn off the flow of messages from MDOsprey, send a message to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following command as the first line in the body of the message: SET MDOSPREY NOMAIL. Upon your return, send a message to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following command as the first line in the body of the message: SET MDOSPREY MAIL. Full documentation for users of LISTSERV can be found at: http://www.lsoft.com/info/default.asp?item=manuals. 2. USING THE WEB INTERFACE TO LISTSERV Amuch more powerful alternative is to use the subscriber interface on the Internet to manage your list settings. First, pointing your browser to the MDOsprey archives: http://home.ease.lsoft.com/archives/mdosprey.html. Once here, click on Subscriber's Corner, in the upper left hand corner of your screen. Here's the tricky part--you will be prompted for your e-mail address and your password. If you have never set a listserv password you need to look for the underlined command in the opening paragraph of the sign-in page: Get a new LISTSERV password. Once you have set a password (you only need to do this once) you can complete the sign-in page and you will then be taken to the Subscriber's Corner. From here you can manage all of your list subscriptions--signing on to new lists, signing off from lists you are currently subscribed to, and managing the settings for lists you are currently subscribed to. Take your time, read the online help carefully as you use the Subscriber's Corner capabilities and if you get things hopelessly messed up, just send an e-mail to mdosprey-support@home.ease.lsoft.com. I hope this helps!
