Quite a pleasant scene. That's disappointing. When I was there on Monday morning, the Wood Duck had three ducklings with her. Guess the snapping turtles got another good meal. I wonder how many the Wood Duck started out with? At Wilde Lake in Howard County, the Trumpetling Swans hatched seven cygnets. One by one they vanished. I was told by a friend who lives at the lake that when the first baby disappeared the female called and called, incessantly. I am hoping that the one cygnet that's left is now big enough to keep from being devoured by the voracious turtles.
