First, we went to Lakeside Ponds in Edgewood and easily saw= =20 7 Least Terns for Tim's first lifer of the day. Killdeer and Green Heron=20 were present, but no other shorebirds or herons. Next we went to the fields= =20 of Perryman, Blue Grosbeak was the next lifer to fall, but the singing=20 Yellow-breasted Chat wouldn't show. An American Kestrel and Bank Swallow=20 were also present. A quick stop by Tydings had very little flats, but the=20 hoped for Caspian Tern was flying around. There was a Pied-billed Grebe=20 swimming in what was left of the flats. That bird was not present earlier=20 this week or in my previous trips there this summer. Fall migrant?? A quic= k=20 run through Susquehanna State Park produced a family group of Prothonotary=20 Warblers, several Acadian Flycatchers, a singing Worm-eating, and an=20 extremely cooperative Yellow-throated Warbler. Harford Glen was a little=20 slow, but 3 Great Egrets and a Painted Turtle laying eggs were neat. All in= =20 all, it was nice to meet Tim and get out birding for the morning.
