When the heron finally gave up and took off, the crows stayed right with it as it flew a few dozen yards upstream. The crows kept swooping and pecking at the heron as the it tried unsuccessfully to evade them. It wasn't until the heron finally gave up and left the area that the crows finally abandoned the chase.
