I suspect they are trying to keep away the Rock Doves, House Sparrows and Starlings. It is a strange sounding call that I thought might be baby birds begging from the nest. The sound random, so I looked all around the garage for the nest (think Atlasing) and failed to find anything. Then a store clerk walking by told me about the machine and solved the mystery. Perhaps there is a business close by the Flicker calls that is trying to keep other birds away. In other news, a little news item about making Garrett Island preserve (Cecil County) into a part of the National Wildlife Refuge System. http://www.delawareonline.com/newsjournal/local/2002/07/16houseoksbilltob.ht ml Denise Ryan Washington, DC ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
