Nice Bridge, on rocks in the Potomac in Charles County. I don't have a boat but maybe a close scope view would reveal nesting. The access point is up river and private. I have yet to get access to it. DNR has been checking around for nesting Cormorants, also. Bay Bridge area, etc. Tuesday when I came home from work I noticed lots of Mourning Dove feathers scattered around the drive. I suspected a dove was taken by an acciptier, likely a Cooper's Hawk, since I live in Charles County. Wednesday at mid-day while working at home, I saw a Cooper's Hawk take off from a tree in the back yard. Could this be another atlas category? Suspected (possible) predator based on prey remains. I guessed Cooper's since Sharp-shinned don't nest around this part of the state. Butterflies are feeding on the blooming Joe-Pye and Ironweed. Yesterday several Horace's Duskywings and a beautiful male Tiger Swallowtail. Today a worn Buckeye arrived. The Duskywing prefers the Ironweed. Regards.
